GRAPES: 60% Merlot, 40% CF
TASTING NOTES: Only 20% of the barrels used in the élévage on this elegant St. Émilion were new. One of the appellation's hidden gems, this dusty, expressive wine gives tones of smoked cherries, cigar, peppercorn, and an earthy texture. Best with rustic fare, like white bean ragôut with pork or beef.
PRODUCTION NOTES: Aging for at least 12 months in 225 L barrels (40% new and 60% one or two years old)
SPECIAL POINTS: The vineyard near chat. Figeac, Cheval Blanc & Vieux chateau Certan. Cheapest price for Cheval Blanc for same vintage is $427. It can be drunk over the next 6-8 years.
